Vickie Jo Folk Art Contemporary Southern Collages and Assemblages
Nature and man-made material are joined with purchased art materials to create angels and animals. Any medium necessary is used to connect parts. Most connections are done with traditional women art techniques such as crochet, weaving, stitching.I also glue, nail, wrap, tie, staple, whatever to make connections. The work voices concerns and carry the message Please spay and neuter pets and do not litter our highways, byways, and waterways.. My art and interest are connected to the rare beauty of NC and earth. That is why I recycle, my garden is registered with http://www.MonarchWatch.org, I count the birds with Cornell University bird projects and participate in stop rabies programs. This is a photo of me at 2ndSATURDAY NC Thomas Wolfe Memorial Asheville, NC July 10.Thanks to all who visited my tent, signed my guest book and purchased art(see photos in the portfolio section).I will be at Reed Gold mine August 14.
